UML Wiki FAQ for Students1. How do I sign up for an account on the wiki? Simply click "Sign In," and enter your full UML email address (including @student.uml.edu) and your email password. 2. Why can't I use my personal email address on the wiki? The UML wiki is for UML community members. The easiest way for us to know that you are member of the UML community is when you use your UML email address. 3. I've forgotten my UML student email password! You must contact the IT Help Desk to have it reset. Please see instructions here. 4. Where is my course wiki? Your courses are not automatically attached to your wiki account. Please ask your instructor to email you the URL to your course wiki. 5. I can log into the system and I got my course wiki URL—but I can't see or make edit to my professor's course wiki. You must request to join your professor's particular course wiki. Go to your course wiki (see #3 answer above), and then click “Join This Space” in the left-menu. Now, it's up to your professor to approve you as a member of the course wiki. Once your professor approves you, you can see the site and/or make edits. 6. Why does my wiki username have an extra “_s” at the end? We needed a way to make sure faculty/staff and students, who might have the same real name (e.g., “Mary Smith”), have a different wiki username. So we decided to add the “_s” (for student) to all student usernames. 7. Can I create a personal home page on the wiki? No. The UML wiki not intended for student home pages. You can use it student activities, like clubs and other group student projects, however. 8. I want to organize a wiki for a UML Student Activity. That's great! Please read our community guidelines about naming spaces. Then send us an email with your desired space name to wiki-admin@weblab.cs.uml.edu. |
